BBQ @ DOWNTOWN EAST

It had been quite awhile since we went for chalet plus eating BBQ food. This December holiday, my sister invited us to her downtown east chalet. As usual, we get to eat a lot of food and covered ourselves with BBQ smell. Overall, it was quite fun and we were like babysitter on that day, taking care all the children and bringing them to sit the rides at downtown east. Guess what!, we saw Looney Tunes characters at downtown east. At the end of the entry, I will post the video of it.

CHRISTMAS EVE 2009

Our rich event for Christmas this year. Let us start with Christmas Eve. We planned to watch Avatar 3D at Vivo city. Being a typical Singaporean. We clock in to GV website hourly on Tuesday night to make sure we are the 1st few to book the seats for Christmas Eve evening show. We were one of the 1st few but we were not the 1st. there are still a lot of kiasu Singaporean out there. haha. But we managed to get a seat we preferred, which is the 3rd row from the back, center seats.

After the movie, we headed down to Jpot@vivo for our dinner. We love the environment and the seafood they served that night were very fresh. The soup base is not that marvelous but its still alright. Its consider cheap provided you go in a big group. Nana joined us this Christmas eve. Which means that there are 3 pax. And we order a 2 pax set meal plus 3 al la carte. which only cos us SGD 19 per person (inclusive of GST)

A TRIP TO CHONG PANG

My laogong heard from his sister that Chong Pang Specs shops call 66 Optical, sells cheap frame and lens. So we make a trip down over the weekend to find out more.

Indeed, its cheaper than outside, but unfortunately, they do not have to design that my laogong wanted. But they ask us to give them the model number and they will quote us.

We then had our dinner at Chong Pang market. The food that we ate was great. Worth a second visit.

FRIENDS OUTING

Since its school holiday, I've decided to meet up with my friends for dinner. A little gathering session. Two consecutive days of meet up. It was really fun.

1st up, I met up with kelvin and Teckjun for dinner at Yishun. I miss the laksa there. And had dessert at the store next store. As usual I don find the dessert nice. Its taste so diluted. Its simply adding ingredients to the sugar syrup. But its my friends treat on that day. Thanks Kelvin and Teckjun

My second meeting was with Claudia Jie. She just came back from her honeymoon from Japan . And she bought some goodies back for me to try. Thanks jie. And she also give me a dinner treat for my belated Birthday Present. So pai seh.

THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR TREAT

DINNER @ TAMPINES

We went to Tampines for dinner last Saturday and met up with April. Tampines was a crowded place. I found it so hard to walk around in the big crowd but luckily there are quite a number of shopping center that you could choose from.

We had our dinner at Din Tai Fung this time after a long consideration. We didn't have to queue for long. Maybe our group is small, that's why it is easy for us. The standard still remains the same.

DINNER @ AH MENG

I met up with Ee woon for a early celebration of Christmas. As usual we exchanged a gift just like any other year, but this year, both our presents are the same, Body shop body polish. The only different is the flavour that we chose. So shock when i received the gift. =) Although I havent open the present, but somewhat I already know what's inside.. haha

We headed down to Ah Meng cafe at Somerset. It was recommended by Ee woon. So I went to google it but all i found was Ah Meng from the zoo. =.= So I went down with alot of questions in mind.

It was a "zhi Char" like restaurant. The food there were average. Not very fantastic, just average. Its a place for big group as they have lots of big table furthermore you need not queue which is a rare scene in Orchard. In addition, it is Halah too so don't worry that your Muslim friends cannot eat.

:.The restaurant (with the very dark ee woon)

:.The menu (They have menu with all pictures and menu with all words)

:.The restaurant

:.Barley Drink (SGD 2 =.=)

:.Tai Ban Seafood Tofu (Not bad)

:.Fried rice with egg (I find it quite fragrant)

:.Sambal kang Kong (A bit salty towards the end, think its due to the sauce, but not bad)

AH YAT TIAN XIA@CENTRAL

My laogong read mypaper and found out that there is a one for one student special set at Ah Yat Tian Xia at only SGD 22.60 PER PAX.. Which means we only have to pay about SGD 13 per person... SUPER WORTH IT.

The meals include one WHOLE ABALONE with ramen or rice, soup, and drink at ONLY SGD 13. What a nice plan my laogong planned. We had our dinner at Central at 6.30pm, and we had to rush to lido at 7.30pm for our New Moon. Yes we finally watched new moon although we read a lot of bad reviews about it. Therefore we didn't expect much. It still the same.. very little action scene.. and we both realised that the action part of the movie were filmed at the same area, which is the big open field. =x Overall the movie was not very nice, both of us just hate the lead actress, she was just a B****.

CHOMP CHOMP & OTHER NEW EXPERIENCE

Over the weekend, we had a wonderful weekend together. Exploring things after things, especially for my laogong. 1st up on the list, we headed down to 313 @ Somerset, followed by Serangoon Gardens, Chomp Chomp, then Meritus Mandarin and lastly City Square Farrer Park. Serangoon Garden. Chomp Chomp is one of the place in the North-east area that you can find good food. It was my Laogong 1st visit. For me, its been awhile since I been there. But the food are still the same. GREAT!!! Not all but most.

:.Fried Oyster with Omelette (quite normal, you can find better one elsewhere!)

:.Satay Beehoon (Fail Quality, not fragrance from the peanut, Highly NOT recommended)

:.Pork Porridge (Very nice, every mouthful you manage to get a bit of the meat)

City Square at Farrer Park was amazingly bigger than I expected. And the mall have more people compared to Central at Orchard. You will be able to find famous restaurants like Pu Tien, Sushi Tei, Manhattan Fish Market, Seoul Garden, etc. There are also Metro as the major tenant and shuttle bus services to Lavendar and Toa Payoh for an interval of 25 mins. Do come down to Farrer Park and take a look.

Meritus Mandarin has undergoes a major renovation on their shopping sectors. This is the 1st time we come across in Singapore with so many shops in a hotel building. But only 20% of the shops are opened. So we recommend you to head down to the mall at a later date.

:.My handsome Laogong

:.The Comfortable sofa found at every storey

313 had the same developer as Parkway Parade, if you notice the shops layout is quite similar to PP. Although the shops are not 100% open, you can find most of the shops in sub-urban malls. Some shops from The Hereen are moved to 313, for example, Limited Ed and HMV (Flagship Stalls). However most restaurant are not open when we were there on the 2nd day of their official launch.

CENTRAL@VIVO

After a long hot day for my laogong, studying so hard for his last paper, we finally went out to eat our dinner. Hungry hungry!! It’s the only time my laogong can relax himself over the easy, simple and interesting questions that his prof is setting. But I know that his prof will set a easy paper for him. So don worry laogong. I know you are fully equipped with information in your big head to throw it onto the answer booklet. You always make me so worry

We went Central to have out dinner and we realized that the food there is actually not as good as Kim Gary. =x Kim Gary still make better noodles and milk tea . But I like the thousand layer tofu, it really had a special taste that can only be found in Central, Do try it out.
